For over a decade, Burn No More has been an informative and sacred program dedicated to honoring those who were persecuted and burnt at the stake for their knowledge, practices, and beliefs.
The prompt, almost the injunction to engage in this work, came to Mariabruna in a compelling dream subsequently confirmed and elaborated through drumming and inspired conversations with her Guides. Since then, Burn No More has figured prominently in her Sacred Calendar on behalf of all the ancestral “Witches”.
In the beginning we met in person and concluded the day in ritual around a consecrated bonfire. Below you may read the testimony of a participant.
Then, by necessity, we started to gather online. It is different of course, but the intention is equally powerful, the synergy of the group is activated, and the way each participant takes responsibility for her or his engagement in the work creates an effective momentum that shakes the status quo. Because we must say “No More” to the vilification and the abuse of the Feminine, in whatever form, institutionalized, collective, and singular.
BNM is a profound and unique event that has deeply touched those who have participated. It starts with revisiting historical, cultural, and psychological aspects of the witch hunts, it invites creativity and movement, and ends with a ritualized encounter with the ancestors to acknowledge their suffering and give them a voice. The intent is healing trauma for them and for us through guided visualizations, hands-on activities, and ceremony.
Trauma leaves lasting marks, not only on those who experience it directly but also on those who come after them. It distorts the present and infiltrates future generations. Epigenetics reveals that the pain and fear endured by our ancestors can influence our own lives, manifesting as anxiety, depression, and other challenges. By turning our attention to this specific past suffering, we open a pathway to healing and resilience for the creative minds and compassionate hearts of today and tomorrow.
- Reflections on historical information and how it still impacts the present.
- Setting personal and collective Intentions.
- Guided Visualizations to open the field for a connection with the spirits of those who need and seek help.
- Admonitions to the Perpetrators to invite their own healing and transformation.
- Creative Activities to deepen and integrate the connection with those who suffered this kind of injustice, violence, and persecution. Those who practice SoulCollage® will find the work with their cards particularly inspiring and supportive.
- Specific movements to integrate the experience.
- A meaningful ritual moment of communication and healing.
- Community sharing to anchor the transformative energy in the present.
By participating in Burn No More, you will:
Honor and validate the experiences of those who – metaphorically or literally – were burnt at the stake without having committed any crime, quite the contrary.
Send respect, compassion, attention, and love through the collective ancestral line.
Address and initiate healing for the epigenetic marks left by historical trauma, breaking the cycle of inherited pain.
Gain personal clarity, resilience, and strength knowing that it reverberates in your community carrying the hope for a more compassionate future.
Burn No More is more than a workshop; it's a journey of healing, connection, empowerment, and transformation. Whether you are new to ritual and ceremony or have a deep spiritual practice, whether you are familiar with the past and recent history of “witch hunting” or not, this program offers a unique opportunity to honor the past and heal the present in a community of dedicated, creative, and committed individuals. The yearly recurrence of this focused ritual moment has been of great comfort and validation to many – on the planet and in the spirit world - for which we are profoundly grateful.
"Burn No More has profoundly changed me. It allowed me to connect the dots between the past and my current experiences as a physician and healer in a medical world that no longer respects patients as human beings”.
L. M., MD, Medicina di Famiglia, 2021
"This program gave me a unique insight on a specific aspect of collective trauma and indicated a powerful way to break the cycle in my own personal life. I feel more resilient and prouder of my heritage"
F.M., 2018
"The ritual last night was deeply transformative. Opening with a drumming circle in the pavilion, then a dry smudging and procession to the fire with candles, herbs and water bowls, to continue drumming while the fire was lit. As the voices from the past spoke, the coyotes started howling in the hills and the fire flared. We released a group sacred cry to the universe to send a healing message through time to shift all persecution and bring enlightenment. I still get chills to remember it. We blessed our wombs and the womb of humanity as places of joy, creativity, and new life. And we drummed, danced, and sang many songs together: "Our wisdom cannot be lost, and our spirits cannot be broken." The stars were magnificent and as we were leaving the moon was rising."
